Multicoopter Drone aims at using remote controlled aircraft (drones) in “standard” fields but also in new areas. The cooperative activity involves aerial video-surveillance for companies and local authorities, aerial surveys, thermographic inspections, precision farming, drone assembly, information clouding and training on drone use.

Here, they tell us more.

Where does the idea come from?

We were chosen to participate in a training course organized by the Umbria Region Government with EU funding to become specialized in civil drone use. During this period, some of us came up with the idea to set up a company offering specialized services using drones.

How is the team made up?

We are three people, graduated in different disciplines but all having a drone-pilot license.

Dario Gattafoni, graduated in archeology, is specialized in tools and software used to elaborate laser scanner data to design 3D printable models of single structures and whole areas surveyed by drones.

Francesco Ingino, graduated in Mechanical Engineering, is an expert in CAD software used to design drone prototypes and sensor systems. He is also fond of photography and video editing.

Lorenzo Marzolla, graduated in Civil Protection and Defense and is qualified in energy certification, is an expert in GIS systems used to manage and analyze spatial data surveyed by drones.

What is your medium/long term goal?

We plan to offer our services not only to “loyal drone customers” (those operating in cinema, tourism, television and advertising) but also to new targets, often badly informed on the advantages of drone utilization in other fields such as construction, energy and agriculture.

Why a cooperative?

We started thinking about a cooperative answering the Coopstartup Unicoop Tirreno call with the main objective of obtaining finance. Then, after having the opportunity to take part in the Coopstartup training course we discovered the cooperative principles and found them in line with our idea of working together as a team. In particular, we found that the principle of democratic member participation and control underlay our decision to create something together, mixing our skills and competences on an equal basis to create more value. Furthermore, we found particularly suitable for our activity the principle of open membership that will allow us to improve our total competence even by new member entry.
