Demoelà brings together a group of game, marketing and communication lovers. For them, recreational-playing activities are a means to set up and strengthen links. They started from observing the increasing spread of games (videogames and board games) in the last few years and wanted to enter the market with a specific purpose: to tell stories and raise awareness on social issues using games.

Here is their story.

Where does the idea come from?

Like most dreams, it happens by chance. One evening, we were playing together and asked ourselves if it would have been possible to create a game on and for Genova, promoting the sense of belonging to a community and telling the story of a year, 1814, so important for the town.  From then, we began a long path that brought us to the Coop Liguria Startup call where we had the opportunity to work on our idea, to obtain training and to grow.

How is the team made up?

We are three people in our thirties, friends since high school, Genovans born and bred. We have different skills; one of us is a lawyer, the other a shop-owner, the third a businessperson. We share the love for games and social issues. We believe in our project seeing in it a way to give ourselves a decent job. We are proud of being part of a team and confident that our next game (to be launched in October) will take us to the USA.

What is your medium/long term goal?

We would like to become the reference company for the games market in Liguria, reaching a good position at national and international level. We would like to characterize ourselves as producers of smart and socially committed games thought up in Italy, produced in Genova and distributed all over the world. We aim at creating a cooperative to give security for the future of us, as members and our families.

Why a cooperative?

The cooperative seems to fit our personal characteristics and the kind of activity we had in mind. It allows us to consider member voice regardless of the capital and to have a certain flexibility in work remuneration. More generally, the cooperative system showed to have trust in our project, offering us training and support and for this, we are very grateful.
