Vascitour sells brief stays in Naples, proposing a form of tourism in which travelers focus on experiencing the city, getting in touch with locals and living like and among them. The cooperative organizes the following services:
- accommodation in a “vascio”, typical little house at street level;
- lunch and dinner as a guest in someone else’s home;
- unusual tours in areas not included in classic tours;
- local people as guides.
The stays could be reserved through the web and an App is available to make it easy to find places off the tourist track. Starting from the older and often neglected neighborhoods of Naples with their fascinating “vicoli” (narrow alleys) and “vasci” (little houses at street level), the cooperative would like to contribute in revitalizing the local economy – producing businesses and employment – and promote unusual but quality services for clients.
Target market
The cooperative’s target market are not traditional tourists that arrive in a city and just go to the usual crowded tourist hubs, but people who want to understand the real life in a town, searching for new and authentic experiences. The ideal client is a traveler with a medium-high degree of education, not resident in the region, better if a foreigner. Potential clients could also be second-generation Neapolitan migrants living abroad and curious about finding their cultural roots. The desired outcome of this kind of tourism is to achieve a participative experience that provides new knowledge and cultural sharing in an atmosphere of traditional ways of life.
