Innovative services to improve the rental housing market for short-term accommodations

Cooperative profile

Experience aims at increasing the quality of living in rented flats offering rental services combined with additional services such as:

• innovative furnishing using ecofriendly materials and methods;
• a tenant-user community;
• project design with user involvement;
• events organized at home to boost stakeholder engagement.

The project is an evolution of the “Erasmus Student Experience”, an experimental project launched in 2010 by the founders of the cooperative and winner of the Puglia Region call “Principi Attivi”.  Having observed that the rental housing market for Erasmus students has many negative sides such as slowness, irregularities and bad flat conditions, they came up with the idea for services of housing management that could improve the quality of rental life. The cooperative will manage some flats located in convenient areas organizing collaborative workshops and co-design laboratories involving users, tenants, local artisans and professionals with the aim of sharing needs and ideas to find ecofriendly, beautiful and economic solutions for furnishing and living spaces.

Target market

The cooperative’s target market is twofold. With reference to users, the target customers consist mainly of University students, Erasmus students, Researchers and Teachers but they would also like to reach other kinds of short-term tenants/guests such as professionals and tourists. With reference to tenants, they are giving priority to medium size rental apartments located in appropriate areas.

Founders

The cooperative is made up of four members with competences in different fields: economics, architecture, education and training.
