Cooperative profile

ABAcadabra aims at developing ABA-VB therapy (Applied Behavior Analysis with an emphasis on Verbal Behavior) in Liguria. ABA-VB is a methodology, based on research, which is used to address functional skills, such as language/communication, self-help skills, play skills and social skills. Research shows that this therapy works for autism and other developmental disorders in reducing inappropriate behavior and in increasing communication, learning and acceptable social behavior. Recently it has been introduced in the Guidelines for Autism from the Ministry of Health. ABA-VB therapy does not need specific technology and equipment but can be delivered using smartphones and tablets.

The cooperative offers:

• habilitative therapies focused on individual patient characteristics and personalized objectives and paths;
• counselling, training and workshops on ABA-VB therapy.

Target market

The cooperative’s target market is people, children to adults, suffering from behavioral and social integration disorders. The market is a growing one because society has become more aware of these illnesses and the ABA therapy has proven to be effective even for rarer illnesses where a specific treatment is lacking.

Founders

The cooperative is made up of six members: a child psychologist experienced in communication disorders, four educators specialized in ABA therapy, a scenographer, expert in communication.
