Ecoplanner is one of the first Coopstartup winners. It plans eco-sustainable events for individuals, public entities and private companies and was founded by a group of visionary young women. They tailor all aspects for each event along environmentally and ecofriendly lines. Their aim is to raise awareness and promote a green life style.

We met them to understand more.

Where does the idea come from?

A good question. It is a simple story. One cold rainy day in January 2014 thinking about our future we decided to jot down some ideas about what could be an interesting and viable solution to contribute to safeguarding the environment and what we could do through recycling and reuse of materials, aware consumption and ecofriendly behavior. ecoplanner started up from this. With our business, we try to build a link among small and large producers.  Who are they? Farmers, restaurant owners, fashion designers, for example. We started off by meeting people who could offer something we like and which is in line with our philosophy.

How is the team made up?

Our team is a “fruit salad”. A team of women (not from choice, it just happened), from different backgrounds. Claudia, an economist, is our business manager. Rosa, an art historian, is our event manager, Marta, an architect and web editor, our communications manager, then there are Azzurra, a designer and Olga, an interior designer. Our recipe is research and action moving along different tracks between nature and culture

What is your medium/long term goal?

We would like to change what we like doing into our job. We have already tried out our ideas on small events such as a baptism and a birthday party and we are working on a wedding. We hope to create new jobs and at the same time contribute to revitalizing traditional and lost activities and safeguarding the environment.

Why a cooperative?

The cooperative is a good way for young people wanting to set up a business. We think it is a flexible and open company form, connected to a large network. We also believe in the values of mutuality, intergenerationality and social responsibility. We thought about a cooperative even before winning the call, so it is not by chance.
