Cooperative profile

Artemista would like to become a “business for all” because the project lies in putting together local resources (ideas, people and waste materials) to create a company based on creativity, recycling and social inclusion. It follows the upcycling philosophy to reduce resource consumption by creating from waste designer products with an added value. Being a spin-off of an existing social cooperative (Cooperativa Nuova Ricerca – Agenzia Res) in which this kind of activity began and a social cooperative itself, it has disadvantaged people among its member-workers.

The cooperative produces designer objects such as furnishings, accessories, gadgets and packaging elements, from byproducts and waste from the industrial district of Fermo (leather, cloth, fabrics, metallic elements, paper and cardboard).

Target market

The cooperative’s target market is not easily definable because the production is addressed to a niche market with gray boundaries. In general, it can be said that the best customer has an ecological conscience and is well aware of the impact of waste on the environment and on human health. Potential customers could be found in some emerging market segments such as green oriented companies, socially oriented foundations and eco-design lovers.

Founders

The cooperative is made up of nine members, a mix of skills ranging from designers and style experts to administrative figures and psychologists. Among members there are also two disadvantaged people.
